Argentina JUST PASSED a groundbreaking gender identity bill!!!
From now on, people will be able to change the name and gender on their ID without needing psychiatric permission or any body modifications. Furthermore, anyone who does want hormones or surgery will be able to access them for free through the public and private health system.
It was passed unanimously today by the Senate :-D

THANK YOU ARGENTINA
My friend here had a fucking letter from his MD saying he’d had surgery. Legally it was all the info they needed, even too much, but they still wanted more. FUCK THIS SHIT. Get with the times, US. Transgender people aren’t fucking unicorns and it’d be nice to be treated like real human beings.

From birth we’re taught that we’re owed a beautiful girl. We all think of ourselves as the hero of our own story, and we all (whether we admit it or not) think we’re heroes for just getting through our day.

So it’s very frustrating, and I mean frustrating to the point of violence, when we don’t get what we’re owed. A contract has been broken. These women, by exercising their own choices, are denying it to us. It’s why every Nice Guy is shocked to find that buying gifts for a girl and doing her favors won’t win him sex. It’s why we go to “slut” and “whore” as our default insults — we’re not mad that women enjoy sex. We’re mad that women are distributing to other people the sex that they owed us.

Yes, the women in these stories are being portrayed as wonderful and beautiful and perfect. But remember, there are two ways to dehumanize someone: by dismissing them, and by idolizing them.

There are two ways to dehumanize someone: by dismissing them, and by idolizing them.

This statement is so true and that’s why I hate, among other things, how men supposedly “celebrate” (or whatever it is they do) women’s day, by idolizing women, thanking for our existence in their lives. I’m not here to make your life better, I’m to live it however the fuck I want to.

I didn’t run into anyone I know today.

YUP!

Because equality is not a concept. It’s not something we should be striving for. It’s a necessity. Equality is like gravity, we need it to stand on this earth as men and women and the misogyny that is in every culture is not a true part of the human condition it is life out of balance and that imbalance is sucking something out of the soul of every man and woman that is confronted with it. We NEED equality. Kinda now.

That last part is key.
And you know what?  On the days it does take over and you let it define what you do, you own that, whether by using it as a tool to help keep it under control in the future or by apologizing to those you might have hurt.
